Data Analyst (Remote, Canada)
Remote - Canada
|Permanent / Full Time
Our client is hiring a Data Analyst. This is a permanent, full-time, fully remote role within Canada; only candidates currently residing in Canada will be considered.
You'll help the business make better decisions by turning messy questions into clean metrics, reliable datasets, and clear insights. You'll work closely with stakeholders, BI/reporting, and technical teams to define KPIs, validate data, build reporting-ready outputs, and ensure analysis is accurate, explainable, and consistent.
Responsibilities:
Work with stakeholders to understand business questions and translate them into analysis plans, KPIs, and reporting requirements; analyze data using SQL and advanced Excel; validate and reconcile data across sources to ensure accuracy and consistency; build and maintain dashboards and recurring reports (in partnership with BI/reporting teams); define metric logic and documentation (data definitions, calculation rules, assumptions); identify trends, anomalies, and drivers through exploratory analysis; support operational reporting, forecasting inputs, and performance monitoring; help troubleshoot reporting discrepancies and data quality issues; produce core artifacts (metric definitions, data dictionaries, reporting specs, basic data flows); partner with technology teams on data extraction, transformations, and changes that impact downstream reporting; support UAT and stakeholder reviews by validating results and explaining outcomes; contribute to data governance, compliance, and operational standards when handling sensitive information.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in a Data Analyst / Analytics role, ideally within investment, wealth management, or financial services.
- Strong SQL skills, including complex querying, performance considerations, and working across multiple datasets/sources.
- Experience with reporting/visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik (depth can be "power user"; not necessarily full BI engineering).
- Strong analytical skills: ability to interpret complex datasets, spot issues, and explain findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Practical experience shaping and preparing data for reporting and analysis (joins, transformations, reconciliations, KPI logic).
- Demonstrated experience defining and documenting metrics, calculations, and reporting requirements so outputs are repeatable and auditable.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with strong written documentation.
- Comfortable working independently, managing priorities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams in a remote environment.
- Experience working in regulated environments and handling sensitive/confidential data appropriately.
CA$100,000 to CA$110,000 annually, 7-10% performance bonus, with final compensation determined by your qualifications, expertise, experience, and the role's scope.
Of Note:
- Completed background checks will be required before the start date if you are selected as a winning candidate.
